Ports, intersecting drillings, plugged passages and face-to-face relationships.
Complex multi-face parts
Angled features and compound surfaces where setup count affects accuracy.
What the process review covers
- Stock form, machining allowance and material condition.
- Primary workholding surfaces and datum transfer between setups.
- Internal corner radii, tool reach and chip evacuation.
- Thin-wall movement, distortion risk and finishing sequence.
- Critical tolerances, inspection access and finish allowance.
3-axis, indexed and simultaneous strategies
Machine-axis count is not a quality grade. A stable 3-axis setup may be the cleanest route for a plate, while indexed or simultaneous multi-axis motion can reduce repositioning for angled features or complex surfaces. The choice is made from geometry, tolerance relationships, volume and available equipment.
